1.05 Who Are Journalists?

There are many different opinions for what a journalist is. In my opinion a great journalist is someone who is resourceful, has interpersonal skills, and is organized. I think that these three qualifications make a great journalist because by being resourceful you are using resources that other people wouldn't normally use, to make a story more interesting, having interpersonal skills helps sell the story, and make people interested in what you are saying, and being organized, is what helps the reader/listener understand your story.

A journalist that matches me personal definition of what I think a journalist is, is Diane Sawyer. Diane does the flagship broadcast for ABC's "World News", and also anchors for breaking news, election coverage, and special events. Diane displays all three characteristics for my definition of a journalist, by the way she delivers her news. Diane travels around the world to all different countries, and delivers news not only about the country she is in, but how it affects America. She also does interviews with the local people, to get a real sense of what is going on.
Another journalist I love is Kelly Ripa. While some may think that Kelly is not an actual journalist, she is one of my favorites. Kelly brings a lot of fun to the news, while reporting the hard hitting news, she an also talk about pretty much anything, from celebrities to a hurricane. I think Kelly is a great example of a journalist not only because of her resourcefulness to use all different types of news stories, but also because of her interpersonal skills. Anyone who watches Kelly on her show "Live! With Regis and Kelly" is always laughing, and enjoying every minute of the show.
Everyone has a different opinion of what a journalist is, and is not. Some may not agree about the journalists that I chose, to match my definition of a journalist, but that is all personal opinion.
