Diane Sawyer began her career as a weather reporter fro WLKY-TV in
Louisville, Kentucky in 1967. She stayed until 1970 when she began her
new position on the staff of Presidential Press Secretary Ron Ziegler.
She remained in this position until 1974 when she began assisting the
former President Richard Nixon with his memoirs. In 1978 she
transitioned to broadcast journalism when she joined CBS News as a
reporter in the Washington bureau.
